The EWE-Forschungszentrum für Energietechnologie NEXT ENERGY is an independant institute, located in Oldenburg. NEXT ENERGY conducts extensive research in conjunction with industry players which focuses on three technological areas: Photovoltaics, Fuel Cells and Energy Storage.
We do application-oriented and interdisciplinary work ranging from materials research to systems development.
In Photovoltaics we concentrate on silicon thin film technology with process technology and control, simulations and measuring technology, solar cells on flexible substrates.

What we offer:
NEXT ENERGY is a research institute working in the field of Energy Storage, Fuel Cells and Thin Film Photovoltaics.
In PV we focus on Silicon Thin Film Technology. Our Labs are well equipped with state of the art deposition and characterization tools. A Baselineprocess is at hand for Singel and Tandem Solar Cells with high efficiencies. We offer following R&D in Thin Film PV:
- Process technology (solar cell optimization on glass and flexible substrates)
- Development of new solar cell designs (Triple Junction)
- Thin film deposition
- Laser patterning
- Measuring technology services

- Numerical simulations of devices
